San Rafael Stakes (gr. II) winner Brother Derek, preparing for a rematch with 2-year-old champion Stevie Wonderboy and new face Bob and John in the Santa Catalina Stakes (gr. II) on March 4, breezed four furlongs early Sunday morning in :49 2/5.

Francisco Alvarado was aboard Brother Derek for the workout.

Brother Derek defeated Stevie Wonderboy in the San Rafael after finishing fourth to his rival in the Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I).

"It was just what we wanted," trainer Dan Hendricks said of the breeze. "I got him in :50, (but) either way, it was just what I wanted. He went great. I was happy with it. Everything was right."

Doug O'Neill said Stevie Wonderboy is scheduled to work "an easy three-quarters" Monday at Hollywood Park. "We were considering something shorter," O'Neill said, "but this will be real pedestrian."
