Sweet Stream, an English champion and French group I winner, has been retired from racing because of a bone fracture in a hind foot. Owned by Team Valor (Barry Irwin, president) and Gary Barber, the 6-year-old daughter of Shantou was being aimed for the March 25 Dubai Sheema Classic (UAE-I).

An Italian-bred, Sweet Stream scored group wins in the Prix Vermeille Fouquet's Barriere (Fr-I), Park Hill Stakes (Eng-II), and Prix Gontaut-Biron (Fr-III). She retired with seven wins from 18 races and earnings of $585,203. She was bought following her 2-year-old season in 2002

Sweet Stream, who was produced from the stakes-placed Jareer mare Snug Dinner, will be bred to German stallion Monsun, sire of 2005 John Deere Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. I) winner Shirocco.
