Folklore, Field Still Pace Oaks' Future Wager

Robert and Beverly Lewis's 2-year-old filly champion Folklore and the mutuel field remained the strong betting choices on Friday as the four-day opening pool of Churchill Downs' 2006 Kentucky Oaks Future Wager reached its halfway point.

Folklore, a daughter of Tiznow   and winner of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I), remained a narrow favorite over the mutuel field, the wagering interest that includes all 3-year-old fillies other than pool's 23 individual horses. Both ended the day at 5-1, but Folklore ($1,392) had attracted slightly more support than "all others" ($1,296) in betting at racetracks and satellite wagering outlets throughout North America.

Total betting on the first of three 2006 KOFW pools climbed to $10,080 on Friday. Pool 1 wagering will resume at noon (all times Eastern) on Saturday and continue through Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

Del Mar Debutante (gr. I) winner Wild Fit emerged as the pool's 7-1 third choice in Friday's Oaks Future betting. Golden Rod (gr. II) winner French Park and Wonder Lady Anne L, winner of the Demoiselle (gr. II), were next in line at 12-1. Original Spin and Ex Caelis closed the day at odds of 15-1.

There are two more KOFW pools scheduled. The race is May 5.
