Field Stands at 4-5 in Day 1 of First Derby Pool

Thanks to an early $10,000 wager on the field, the "all other horses" entry in the first 2006 Kentucky Derby Future Wager pool stood as the prohibitive 4-5 favorite after the first day of betting Thursday.

The field was responsible for nearly half of the $46,835 wagered as of 9:30 p.m. ET. Only 2005 juvenile champion Stevie Wonderboy drew much interest among the 23 individual interests in the pool, and was at odds of 9-1. Achilles of Troy and First Samurai were both at 13-1.

Bettors will receive the odds that are set when the pool closes on Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. ET.

The Kentucky Derby (gr. I) is May 6.
