Tiznow California Horse of the Year

In what came as no surprise, North America's Horse of the Year also is California's Horse of the Year. Tiznow, who earned an Eclipse Award as 2000 Horse of the Year and best 3-year-old male, was chosen Cal-bred Horse of the Year over General Challenge and Budroyale, and champion 3-year-old male over Grey Memo and Stormy Jack. Additional 2000 champions named by the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association were Proud Tower (2-year-old male), Jetin Excess (2-year-old filly), Cover Gal (3-year-old filly). General Challenge (older male), Smooth Player (older female and grass horse), and Richter Scale (sprinter).
