All but one of the workhorses quarantined at Turfway Park have been cleared to return to the track on Tuesday after testing negative for the equine herpesvirus.

Kentucky state veterinarian Robert Stout rescinded the restrictions on all but one of the 32 lead ponies and outrider horses. Testing found that the animals showed no signs of the virus that killed a filly and quarantined horses in two barns last month, the track said Monday.

One horse produced an inconclusive test and will remain at the Boone County Fair Grounds. The horse will eventually be moved to a suitable location.

Turfway Park quarantined Barns 26 and 27 following the death of filly Coupe Aux Marrons, who was stabled in Barn 26. The 48 horses in Barn 26 were allowed to return to the general population on Jan. 19 after testing negative.

The 52 horses in Barn 27 will remain under quarantine until at least the end of this week.
