Texcess, winner of the Boyd Gaming's Delta Jackpot and California Cup Juvenile Stakes in 2004, topped the opening session of the Barretts January mixed sale Monday in Southern California, bringing $300,000 from Carl Van Burger. A 4-year-old gelding, Texcess (In Excess – Danish Alamode) captured three of 12 career races and earned $805,365 while racing for Paul Aguirre and Omar Aldabbagh. He finished second in the 2005 San Mateo Mile Stakes and the 2004 Barretts Juvenile Stakes and third in the San Rafael Stakes (gr. II).
Nextar Ranch, agent, consigned Texcess.
