Irish Champion Helmsman to Windfall in California

Irish champion and millionaire Helmsman, sire of Canadian champion Rare Friends, has been relocated to Windfall Farms near Paso Robles, Calif.
A 14-year-old son of El Gran Senor, Helmsman has sired five stakes winners, nine stakes-placed runners, and the earners of $7.2 million. In addition to Rare Friends, who earned $766,394, Helmsman sired stakes winners Emerald Earrings, Knight of Darkness, Sailor Knot, and Red At the Helm.
Helmsman, who is out of the King's Bishop mare Sacred Journey, won four California stakes, including the Strub Stakes (gr. I). Formerly at Pegasus Ranch, he will stand in 2006 for $4,000.
