Favored Dyna's Destiny nosed Best Mom at the wire to win the $80,175 Bedanken for 3-year-old fillies on the turf Sunday at the Fair Grounds meet at Harrah's Louisiana Downs.
Conditioned by Todd Pletcher for Eldon Farm, Dyna's Destiny raced in mid-pack before making a three-wide bid to take the lead in the stretch. Best Mom took the lead in mid-stretch before Dyna's Destiny battled back to prevail at the finish in a determined effort. Best Mom was a head better than the unlucky Christmas Stocking in a three-way photo.
"On the backside, she got a little eager, but once I got her clear, she relaxed," said jockey Carlos Marquez Jr. of Dyna's Destiny. "I didn't want to move too soon, but when I saw (Best Mom) coming, I tried to get the jump. Once she got it rolling, she got up in time."
The closing Christmas Stocking lacked room near the eighth pole and had to fall back before launching a late bid that just missed.
Dyna's Destiny returned $5.80, $3 and $2.40 as the 19-10 favorite in the field of six. She ran one mile over the firm Franks turf course in 1:35.63.
The daughter of Dynaformer

Best Mom returned $5.60 and $3.40, while Christmas Stocking paid $2.20.
