Mass Media, a grade I winner for Gary and Mary West, will resume training instead of entering stud. The 5-year-old son of Touch Gold   out of the Forty Niner mare Sultry Allure was scheduled to stand for $7,500 at John Sikura's Hill 'n' Dale Farms near Lexington.

"We had mixed emotions regarding the retirement of Mass Media," said the Wests' advisor, Ben Glass Jr. "He is a proven grade I winner, and we feel he can win important races this year. Gary West enjoys watching his horses run, and there is plenty of time to resume a stallion career. In retrospect, our decision to retire Mass Media was probably done in haste. Looking at his division, we think he can win important races this year and enhance his value as a future stallion. Our long term goal is the Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I)."

Mass Media, who won such stakes as the 2005 Forego Handicap (gr. I) at Saratoga on his way to earnings of $466,420, will be returned to trainer Bobby Frankel. "I am thrilled that Mass Media will return to training," the conditioner said. "He retired sound, and he should be a major force to be reckoned with in the sprint/miler division."
