Date Set for Claiming Crown at Canterbury Park

Edited press releaseThe 2006 Claiming Crown will be renewed for the seventh time in the last eight years at Canterbury on Saturday, July 15. Purses for the seven-race event will total $600,000.
Thoroughbred racing's day for the "blue collar" runners been popular with fans and horsemen, attracting horses from top barns from across North America that have resulted in full fields for the program. The seven-race program will include three sprints on the dirt, two turf routes and two routes on the dirt including the $150,000 Jewel at 1 1/16 miles for three year olds and up.
Canterbury Park first hosted the Claiming Crown in 1999 and has been the home of the Claiming Crown in six of the event's seven-year run, the exception being 2002 when it was held at Philadelphia Park.
Nominations for the Claiming Crown close on Friday, April 14.
