Edited Santa Anita report
Turnbolt will attempt to successfully run farther than he ever has when the son of Deputy Minister starts in Saturday's grade II San Pasqual Handicap at 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita.

Turnbolt, trained by Richard Mandella, has a 3-2-1 record from eight starts but has never raced beyond 6 1/2 furlongs.

"The other morning he worked awful good," said Corey Nakatani, who rides the Virginia-bred colt. "Mr. Mandella did things right. He had him nice and relaxed so I don't see why he wouldn't step forward, being by Deputy Minister. He should be able to route. We'll run and see what happens and try to get lucky. Mandella knows what he's doing. There's not a better guy in the business."

Turnbolt blew out three furlongs on Santa Anita's "good" main track Thursday in :39.80.
