Patrick Daly, who was based at Churchill Downs Trackside training center, died Dec. 28 in a Louisville hospital after suffering a brain aneurysm a dozen days earlier. He was 43.

Daly started training in 1991 and later became an assistant to Kenny McPeek for a few years. He went out on his own in 2003 and won that year's Oklahoma Derby (gr. III) with Comic Truth.

Daly's survivors include his wife, Lori, who plans to continue the stable operation, and son John.
