(Edited Fasig-Tipton press release)Fasig-Tipton has adjusted its 2006 sales schedule for Saratoga Springs, N. Y, and added an additional yearling auction to the mix.The 86th annual Saratoga select yearling sale will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 8 and 9, with each session beginning at 7:30 p.m. (EDT). The New York-bred preferred yearling sale will be moved forward one day. It will be held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 12 and 13, with each session starting at 7 p.m. (EDT). A new yearling sale, an open session not restricted to New York-breds, will be held on racing's "dark day" at Saratoga on Tuesday, Aug. 15, beginning in the afternoon. "After conversations with several of our major consignors to the Saratoga sales, and with a little reorganization on our part, it became possible to accommodate another session in our sales season at Saratoga," said Fasig-Tipton president Walt Robertson. "The first-class facilities available there to our consignors and buyers at an open session will make this a convenient and attractive option."Nominations for the Saratoga select and New York-bred preferred auctions will close on Jan. 31, 2006. Entries for the open yearling sale will close on May 22nd.
Prospective buyers, consignors, and Fasig-Tipton officials were cautiously optimistic prior to the Saratoga select yearling sale's starte even though the stock market and the Thoroughbred marketplace in general have lost momentum lately.
