The 16th annual charity stallion season and art auction conducted by Thoroughbred Charities of America and the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association on Dec. 3 at CandyLand Farm in Delaware and audiocast to Cross Gate Gallery in Lexington, Ky. raised $1.9 million. According to TCA, the total could exceed $2 million from the sale of seasons that went unsold at the auction.
TCA reported the 210 stallion seasons sold included four seasons selling for over $100,000 a piece:
Empire Maker,
Mineshaft ,
Pulpit and
Unbridled's Song . This auction's results, coupled with the TCA/TOBA Saratoga Golf Tournament in August and donations, will put TCA revenue for the fiscal year at over $2,200,000, the organization reported.
