Chad Schvaneveldt Reaches 2,000 Victories

Jockey Chad Phillip Schvaneveldt won the 2,000th race of his career Thursday when he guided Way Brite to a four-length victory in the second race at Golden Gate Fields.

Schvaneveldt, a 41-year-old native of Preston, Idaho, has been riding professionally since 1981. He ranks third in the Golden Gate rider standings with 25 wins from 106 mounts through Dec. 1. He's had 14,853 career mounts and total purse earnings of $27,203,202.
