Grade I Winners Pampered Princess, Stellar Jayne Retired

Pampered Princess and Stellar Jayne, both grade I winners, have been retired from racing to become broodmares. Five-year-old Pampered Princess, whose big win came in the Juddmonte Spinster Stakes (gr. I) at Keeneland the fall for owner Martin Cherry, arrived Nov. 25 at the Taylor family's Taylor Made Farm near Nicholasville, Ky. She is booked to Unbridled's Song
, who stands at the farm. Four-year-old Stellar Jayne is scheduled to arrive Nov. 28 at Sheikh Mohammed's Darley at Jonabell near Lexington. Breeding plans are undecided.
Pampered Princess' victory in the Spinster came over Pleasant Home. The victory took on additional importance after Pleasant Home was a lengthy winner of the Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I) in her next start.
Trained by Marty Wolfson, Pampered Princess retired with 13 wins from 32 races and earnings of $786,125. She ran second in the Nov. 24 Falls City Handicap (gr. II) at Churchill Downs in her final race. For her career, she won or placed in 19 stakes.

Stellar Jayne closed out her career on a winning note, capturing the Nov. 25 Delta Airlines/Top Flight Handicap (gr. II) at Aqueduct for Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin Racing. She retired with nine wins from 22 starts and earnings of $1,534,964.
Sheikh Mohammed bought Stellar Jayne for $3.6 million through John Ferguson Bloodstock at the 2004 Keeneland November sale from Spendthrift Farm (Bruce Kline, president), agent, and turned her over to trainer Saeed bin Suroor. The daughter of Wild Rush previously had raced for Spendthrift, Drs. Charles Kidder and Nancy Cole, and Nick Strong for trainer D. Wayne Lukas.
Stellar Jayne also won the Ruffian Handicap (gr. I) and restricted Misty Galore Stakes for Godolphin. For her former owners, her big wins came in the 2004 Mother Goose Stakes (gr. I) over subsequent champion Ashado, plus the Gazelle Handicap (gr. I) and Dogwood Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. III). Her stakes-placings included efforts in the Breeders' Cup Distaff Presented by Nextel (gr. I), Alabama Stakes (gr. I), and Coaching Club American Oaks (gr. I).
Bred by Howard and Kris Gibbons' Wind Hill Farm, Stellar Jayne is a half-sister to the multiple grade I stakes-winning filly Starrer and is out of the graded stakes-placed Relaunch mare To the Hunt.
