Jockey Martin Pedroza, whose last four win-day at Hollywood Park came two years ago to the day, enjoyed his first-five win day at the Inglewood track Saturday with a little help from the stewards.
The 40-year-old Pedroza, who leads the Hollywood Park jockeys' standings with 19 wins through 13 racing days, finished a distant second in the day's richest race, but got the victory aboard 8-1 shot Genre in the $100,000 Real Quiet Stakes when the stewards disqualified Bob and John.
The Panamanian's big day began with a victory aboard Marciamarciamarcia ($4) in the first race and ended with a win on Accountable Event ($5.40) in the eighth race. In between he won the third on Genre ($18.80), the fourth on Golden Bonus ($4.80), and the fifth on Fresado ($4.60).
Pedroza, who rode six consecutive winners at Santa Anita Oct. 31, 1992, suffered his lone defeat Saturday when Deputy Buck finished sixth in the seventh race.
