The promising Bluegrass Cat stands out in a field of eight 2-year-olds entered for the $200,000 Remsen (gr. II) Saturday at nine furlongs at Aqueduct.

The once beaten Storm Cat colt drew the rail under jockey John Velazquez.

Bluegrass Cat defeated a deep field in the Oct. 28 Nashua (gr. III) at Belmont. He was up close to the pace before kicking on gamely in mid-stretch. Saturday, he'll make his first start around two turns and first start beyond a mile. Trainer Todd Pletcher, on the verge of setting the nation's single-season earnings record, says he does not foresee a problem.

"He is a colt we're all very excited about," Pletcher said. "He showed a lot of promise in his last two starts and I was impressed how he pushed his way through the field in the Nashua. He's shown a good amount of determination and talent. I don't think a mile and an eighth will bother him at all."

He broke his maiden by 6 1/2 lengths Sept. 24 at Bemont, freshened following an eighth-place finish in his debut at 4 1/2 furlongs at Churchill Downs June 4.

Fagan's Legacy didn't beat much in the off-the-turf Pilgrim last month at Belmont, but won the race in hand beneath jockey Joe Bravo. This Kelly Breen-trained colt is by Monarchos  , the 2001 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner.

Pegasusbystorm enters the Remsen on the heels of a victory in Meadowlands' Storm Cat and is one of few in the field that has a two-turn win under his belt.
