Wildcat Heir, a grade I-winning son of Forest Wildcat, will enter stud at John Sykes' Cloverleaf Farms II near Reddick, Fla. His fee will be $8,000.
"We are very excited about standing such a talented horse," said Cloverleaf general manager Brent Fernung about the horse who won last year's Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash Stakes (gr. I). "He was a really fast horse who won a grade I race beating some tough sprinters. In its short history, the De Francis Dash has a pretty good record of sire success, with
Montbrook ,
Cherokee Run,
Smoke Glacken , and
Yes It's True all winning the race."
Wildcat Heir, who raced as a homebred for Eb Novak's New Farm, is owned by New Farm in partnership with Kentucky-based Taylor Made/WinStar Venture. He will be the first Taylor Made/WinStar Venture stallion to stand outside of Kentucky.
Five-year-old Wildcat Heir registered the co-fourth highest Beyer Speed Figure this year, a 117, at races up to a mile, below only Ghostzapper, Commentator, and Forest Danger. That effort came in a 1:08.59 victory in the Teddy Drone Stakes at six furlongs at Monmouth Park in August in his first start of the year. In his next start, Wildcat Heir went off the second choice in the TVG Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I), but finished unplaced after suffering an injury.
Wildcat Heir retired with six wins from a dozen starts and earnings of $424,460. He is a full brother to stakes winners Forest Heir and Forest Heiress, and is out the Pentelicus mare Penniless Heiress, who is a half-sister to grade II winner On to Royalty, the dam of classic winner
Louis Quatorze. His fourth dam is a full sister to Nashua.
