Inclement Weather Impacts Meadowlands Meet

Impacted by heavy rain, the Meadowlands Thoroughbred meet concluded with steep downturns in on-track and overall wagering. The inclement weather forced racing programs to be cut short on Oct. 8 and Oct. 11 and five race cards – Oct. 12-15 and Oct. 25) were cancelled.

On-track handle totaled $9,169,883 and overall wagering, including handle at more than 350 simulcast locations, totaled $46,495,883. On-track handle averaged $366,795, compared with $418,276 in 2004, and overall daily average handle was $1,855,835, compared with last year's average of $2,204,704.

The track reported average daily attendance of 4,372 represented a 6.3% gain.

Jockey Joe Bravo secured his 10th Meadowlands riding title, as top training honors went to Jason Servis. The Ocean View Stables of Toms River, New Jersey claimed the top owner title.
