National television ratings for NBC's telecast of the Oct. 29 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships from Belmont Park in New York increased slightly from last year's numbers. The show, which aired from 1-6 p.m. EDT, drew a 1.5 rating and a 4 share, up marginally from the 1.4 and 4 share it did in 2004.

Each ratings point represents 1.1 million households, and NBC approximated that two-million viewers tuned in to the telecast.

The ratings peaked in the final half hour from 5:30-6 p.m. when the Breeders' Cup Classic - Powered by Dodge drew a 2.2 rating and a 5 share. The share points represent the percentage of the viewing public that is tuned in to a particular program.

The highest-rated markets for the program were St. Louis and Seattle. NBC has telecast all 22 editions of the Breeders' Cup, but beginning next year ESPN takes over the coverage. The 2006 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships will take place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.
