Longer Fasig-Tipton Yearling Sale Wraps Up

Giant's Causeway colt brought $200,000 to top the final day of action at Fasig-Tipton's expanded three-day Kentucky Fall Yearling Sale in Lexington.
The chestnut yearling, the second foal from the grade II winner Prospectress (by Mining) foaled March 2, 2004, was purchased by BBA (Ireland) Ltd., from the Hill 'n' Dale consignment.
The three-day auction, which began on Monday, ended with a total of 610 head sold, nearly 100 more than a year ago when 511 were bought over two days. A total of 856 were offered (as compared to 709 a year ago) with increases across the board in gross ($11,099,100-$8,317,200), average price ($18,195-$16,276) and median price ($8,500-$8,000).
The average ($16,309) and median ($8,000) sale prices on the final day were both off slightly when compared to the first two days. Wednesday's session saw 207 head sell of the 288 offered.
Also Wednesday, O&H Bloodstock Partners paid $175,000 for a bay colt by Deputy Minister out of the listed stakes winning Carson City mare Squall City, who has produced one previous foal. Viking Stud, Inc. was the consigner and Pam Littrell acted as agent.
The sales topper was purchased Tuesday by California vintner Jess Jackson, whose Stonestreet Stables paid $600,000 for a colt by
