Canadian Champion Mobil to Windfields in Canada

Gustav Schickedanz' Canadian champion Mobil has been retired from racing and will stand at Windfields Farm near Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.

Deserving of the title "Canada's Iron Horse," 5-year-old Mobil finished first or second in 20 stakes. An 11-time stakes winner, he was a stakes winner all four years he raced and was Canada's champion older male in 2004.

Sired by Schickedanz' champion Langfuhr  , Mobil won such stakes as the Dominion Day Handicap (Can-III) by 12 3/4 lengths and the Toronto Cup (Can-IIIT) and Vigil (Can-III) Handicaps, plus the Ontario Derby (Can-III) and this year's Halton Stakes on grass for the third consecutive year. As a 2-year-old, he finished first in the Coronation Futurity, but was disqualified and placed second.

Mobil's stakes-placings included runner-up efforts in the Queen's Plate Stakes and four stakes this year, among them the Sept. 18 Atto Mile Stakes (Can-IT) in what was his final start. Trained by Michael Keogh, Mobil retired with a dozen wins from 29 races and earnings of $1,877,136.

Mobil, who was produced from the winning Naskra mare Kinetigal, will stand for $6,500 (Canadian funds) as the property of Gustav Schickedanz Thoroughbred Stables.
