(from Oak Tree at Santa Anita notes)Roman Ruler worked four furlongs Friday morning in a bullet :46 1/5 in his final local blowout before the TVG Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) on Oct. 29 at Belmont Park.
The runner-up to Rock Hard Ten in the 1 1/8-mile Goodwood Breeders' Cup Handicap went out with stablemate Run Rebecca Run, who was clocked in :46 4/5.
"He went good; he just cruised around there," Bob Baffert said.
Regular exercise rider Dana Barnes was aboard Roman Ruler, who won the Haskell Invitational (gr. I) this summer.
Asked what it would take to beat the Sprint's prohibitive favorite, Lost In The Fog, Baffert had a simple response: "A faster horse, right?"
