Trainer Mike Weissman Dead at 82

Longtime Chicago trainer Mike Weissman passed away Oct. 20 following a massive heart attack he sustained Oct. 19.

Weissman, 82, campaigned multiple-stakes winner Milwaukee Avenue in the late '70s and a race was named for the horse at Sportsman's Park. Weissman also ran Powerless, another multiple stakes winner in the late '70s who now has a race named for her on Illinois Festival of Racing Day at Hawthorne.

There will be a viewing for Weissman Oct. 22 from 5-8 p.m. at Suburban Family Funeral Home at 35th and Austin in Cicero, IL. The phone number there is (708) 652-1116.
