Arrowfield Stud announced that it had negotiated the purchase of an interest in Australian champion Starcraft. While terms had been agreed upon after Starcraft's win in the Sept. 24 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Eng-I), the ownership change will not take place until after Starcraft's Breeders' Cup appearance. Starcraft is pre-entered in the NetJets Mile (gr. IT) and Classic – Powered by Dodge (gr. I).
"Starcraft is quite unique," said Arrowfield's John Messara. "He is, in fact, Australia's best internationally performed horse since Strawberry Road over 20 years ago.
"We will assist Starcraft's owner, Paul Makin, to charter a Northern Hemisphere stud career for the stallion, which may include participation by a Northern Hemisphere stud and partial syndication in Australia."
Starcraft, a group I winner in his native New Zealand, Australia, and France as well as in England, will begin Southern Hemisphere stallion duties at Arrowfield Stud in 2006.
Starcraft (Soviet Star--Flying Floozie, by Pompeii Court) has won 11 of 21 races and earned $2.3 million.
