(from Breedes' Cup notes)Jerry Bailey, the leading Breeders' Cup jockey with 14 victories, will have mounts in every Breeders' Cup race next Saturday. He could be on four favorites with First Samurai (Bessemer Trust Juvenile), Shakespeare (John Deere Turf) Oujia Board (Emirates Airline F&M Turf) and Saint Liam (Classic Powered by Dodge).
Shakespeare is a perfect 5-for-5 coming off a narrow win in the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic Invitational (gr. IT) over English Channel.
"He's pretty much answered every question thrown at him," Bailey said. "I guess soft ground would be the only question with him."
Saint Liam has not run since impressively taking the Woodward (gr. I) last month.
Recently, horses like Borrego and Rock Hard Ten have been under the spotlight with their strong prep victories.
"Saint Liam has been as impressive as anyone," Bailey said. "Rock Hard Ten and Borrego look legit. He should be on the lead or in a stalking position."
