Lydgate, Grand Appointment to Red River in Louisiana

Stakes winners Lydgate and Grand Appointment will enter stud as the property of syndicates at Jay Adcock's Red River Farm near Coushatta, La.

Lydgate, a 5-year-old son of Pulpit  , won the 2004 Aegon Turf Sprint Stakes (gr. IIIT) in :56.56 for five furlongs at Churchill Downs. He retired with two wins from 16 starts and earnings of $139,769 while racing in North America, England, and Dubai.

Lydgate's dam, Keeneland stakes winner Mariuka (by Danzig), is a half-sister to three stakes winners, including French champion miler Mukaddamah. Lydgate will stand for $2,000.

Grand Appointment, a 7-year-old son of Unbridled, scored his big win in the Sensational Star Handicap at Santa Anita. He captured six of 21 races and earned $298,216. His dam, Grand Sophisticate (by El Gran Senor), is a half-sister to successful young stallion Doneraile Court. Grand Appointment will stand for $1,500.
