TVG will debut its new documentary series, "TVG Insider," with an in-depth look at trainer Simon Bray's decision to train and race Startac, a horse bred for turf-racing, on dirt to see if he is a legitimate contender for the Kentucky Derby. The hour-long show, entitled "The Arizona Experiment," will air Tuesday at 9 p.m. EST (6 p.m., PST).
"The Arizona Experiment," written and produced by Scott Eberly, revolves around Bray and Startac, a 3 year-old colt from the stable of the late Allen Paulson. Paulson owned many Thoroughbred champions, including Cigar, but never won the Run for the Roses. The show highlights Bray, a promising young trainer, and Startac's journey to Arizona for the Turf Paradise Derby, Startac's debut on a dirt track.
"The 'Insider' series is an example of TVG's commitment to introduce fans to a side of racing that they have never seen before and to highlight the people and horses that make the sport so unique," said Tony Allevato, TVG's vice president, executive producer. "We are pleased to provide viewers with Simon Bray's personal story and his decision to point Startac to the Kentucky Derby in this inaugural show."
Produced in conjunction with FOX Sports, TVG's programming also includes expert commentary, tutorials and behind-the-scenes features on the horses and celebrities of racing.
