Weather Halts Racing at Belmont Park, Meadowlands

Due to heavy rain that has caused flooding in the Northeast, live racing was cancelled Wednesday at Belmont Park in New York and at Meadowlands in New Jersey.

Live racing is scheduled to resume at Belmont Friday after a dark day Thursday due to Yom Kippur.

Meadowlands, which cancelled Tuesday racing after the fourth race, announced that simulcasting will continue as scheduled and that live racing will resume with Thursday night's card.

The track also announced that although racing has not been cancelled for Friday night, it has rescheduled that card's featured Cliff Hanger Stakes (gr. IIIT), at 1 1/16 miles on grass, until Saturday, Oct. 22.
