Special Rate, a stakes-winning half-brother to millionaires Sightseek and Tates Creek, will enter stud at Joe and Sharon Kerby's Key Ranch near Salado, Texas.

Campaigned as a homebred by Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms, Special Rate won or placed in 10 of 12 starts and earned $187,950 while racing exclusively in New York and in Southern California. His big win came in the Bien Bien Stakes at Hollywood Park.

A 5-year-old son of Pulpit  , Special Rate is out of the stakes-winning Nureyev mare Viviana. Champion and major sire Chief's Crown appears under Special Rate's third dam, champion Chris Evert.

Phil Leckinger and Jerry Hardin privately acquired Special Rate from Juddmonte.
