Power went out during the stretch run of the third race Friday at Gulfstream Park and remained out through the eighth race. While the power was out, the races continued to be run, with track announcer Vic Stauffer announcing odds, program changes, payoffs, etc. Television monitors were obviously affected, meaning incoming simulcasting was cancelled. The outgoing signal was not affected. "The problem is in a Florida Power and Light transformer and is completely beyond Gulfstream's control," track president Scott Savin said. The ninth and 10th races were run under normal conditions.
