Del Mar Thoroughbred Club received the 2005 Simulcast Award Tuesday at the annual International Simulcast Conference being held this week in La Jolla, Calif., near San Diego.

Del Mar was chosen among 21 contenders for the award, which honors the best simulcast telecast by a host site and is open to all pari-mutuel breeds. The selection of Del Mar by a five-judge panel was based on the technical merit, quality, and timeliness of racing and wagering information dissemination, as well as overall appeal of its simulcast package.

The Thoroughbred Racing Associations has presented the simulcast award since 1997. Woodbine Entertainment Group received the award in 2004 for its Thoroughbred telecast.

Previous winners are Churchill Downs (1997), Turfway Park (1998), Penn National (1999), Santa Anita Park (2000 and 2001), Hollywood Park (2002), and Keeneland (2003).
