Dixieland Heat to Q6 in Texas

Dixieland Heat, sire of champion and millionaire Xtra Heat, will stand in 2006 at Drs. Ken and Linda Quirk's Q6 Ranch near Belton, Texas. Owned by Leland and Sue Cook and Pope McLean, Dixieland Heat will stand for $2,500.

One of six stakes winners sired by Dixieland Heat, Xtra Heat won 26 of 35 starts and earned $2,389,635. Her resume included an Eclipse Award as best 3-year-old filly of 2001 and 25 career stakes wins.

Dixieland Heat, a 15-year-old son of Dixieland Band out of the Damascus mare Evening Silk, won four stakes at Fair Grounds, including the Louisiana Derby (gr. III). He formerly stood at Elite Thoroughbreds near Folsom, La.
