Edited press release
As residents of Miami-Dade and Broward counties in Florida are being urged to stay at home and off the roads today by local officials because of the approaching tropical storm Rita, Calder Racecourse announced it would be closed Tuesday for simulcasting.

According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Tropical storm Rita was forecast to become a hurricane and was headed for a noon encounter with the Florida Keys on a path that may take it to Texas and Louisiana later this week.

There was no live racing scheduled for the South Florida track on Tuesday or Wednesday, and racing is scheduled to resume Thursday.
