Two-year-old King Cohl, owned by Betty L. Kaelin and trained by Forrest Kaelin, became the first stakes winner for stallion Crimson Classic when he captured the $41,500 Dr. Ernest Benner Stakes at Charles Town Saturday night.
King Cohl, ridden by Anthony Mawaing, drove clear in the stretch to win by 2 1/2-lengths in the 6 1/2-furlong event.
The bay colt is from the Affirmed mare Chanti.
Multiple stakes winner Crimson Classic, campaigned by John W. Clay and also trained by Forrest Kaelin, stands privately at Hooper Roff's Pyaar Acres in Lexington, Ky.
