William T. (Buddy) Bishop III, a prominent Lexington attorney who has been a long-time board member and secretary of Keeneland, has been appointed a trustee of the company.
Bishop is the son of Keeneland's first general manager, W.T. Bishop, and is a partner in Stoll, Keenon & Park. He succeeds Central Kentucky breeder Charles Nuckols Jr., who died earlier this month.
Bishop joins James E. Bassett III and Louis Lee Haggin III as Keeneland trustees.
"Growing up on the grounds, serving as its attorney and working with the company on a vast array of projects and challenges, Buddy Bishop brings to the position a passion for and deep understanding of Keeneland and its responsibilities to the Thoroughbred industry and community," Bassett and Haggin said in a joint statement.
Buddy Bishop literally grew up in the building that now houses the clubhouse and general offices of Keeneland.
"Having grown up prowling the grounds of Keeneland on horseback, bicycle, mower and with paintbrush, succeeding a person like Charlie Nuckols is as gratifying as it can get," said Bishop.
