Edited CDI release

Churchill Downs Inc. is now in contact with more than 70% of its 500 Louisiana employees who scattered to areas around the country in the evacuation of New Orleans prior to Hurricane Katrina's arrival.

A total of 363 employees of CDI's Louisiana operations, which include the Fair Grounds and 10 off-track betting facilities, have made contact with the company. The names of those people have been added to a "safe list" of Louisiana employees that can be viewed at the Fair Grounds Web site, www.fgno.com.

CDI employs approximately 400 full-time staffers in the Greater New Orleans area as well as 100 New Orleans-area police officers who work security detail during their off-duty hours at Fair Grounds OTBs.

CDI's Louisiana employees will continue to receive pay and benefits at least through the month of September, so it is important that contact be established with those employees.
