By Mary SchweitzerWarrsan won the group I Grosser Volkswagen Preis von Baden for the second straight year at Baden-Baden Sunday.
Clive Brittain's 7-year-old took the lead at the top of the home straight from the favorite, Cherry Mix, and easily held off the German filly, Gonbarda. Ascot Gold Cup (Eng-I) winner Westerner was third.
This was Warrsan's first victory since capturing this event last year. Immediate plans for the bay include a start in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I) on Oct. 2. Long range goals after the Arc include the John Deere Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. IT), and races in Tokyo and Hong Kong.
