Edited press release
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, which struck the Mississippi Gulf Coast on Monday, Aug. 29, Penn National Gaming, Inc. announced today Thursday it has established a toll-free employee assistance 'Hotline' (1-800-598-0756) for its displaced employees at the company's Casino Magic-Bay St. Louis and the Boomtown Biloxi Casino.

"Our first priority is to help locate and provide immediate assistance to our nearly 2,000 employees and their families," said Peter M. Carlino, chairman and CEO of Penn National Gaming. "We are urging employees to call us toll-free at 1-800-598-0756 to let us know they're o.k. and tell us how we can help address their needs. We are asking news organizations in local and major media markets in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and other neighboring states to help us reach our employees by broadcasting or printing the 'Hotline' number," said Carlino.

The Employee Assistance 'Hotline', which will be manned by Penn National employees, will provide important information on such things as payroll and benefits, and potential employment opportunities for our Gulf Coast employees at other Penn National Gaming properties while the company continues to assess the damage to its two casinos. Employees with access to the Internet can also contact us by visiting our website at www.pngaming.com.
