The Thoroughbred Racing Associations is attempting to find a new location for its International Simulcast Conference, which was to take place in hurricane-ravaged New Orleans in about a month.

The conference remains scheduled for Oct. 3-5, but further information is not yet available.

"Due to the unfortunate events that have resulted from Hurricane Katrina in the city of New Orleans, the TRA will not be holding the 2005 conference in New Orleans," said a notice on the TRA Web site. "We are in the process of looking for alternative sites, and as soon as decisions are made, information will be forthcoming."

The impact computers have on the current pari-mutuel wagering industry, as well as racing's future, is the focus of this year's conference.
