Hall of Fame rider Gary Stevens has taken off his mounts this week after aggravating a minor tailbone injury incurred in a post parade spill at Saratoga last Wednesday. Stevens was unseated from the Dale Romans-trained North East Storm prior to the third race, a maiden turf test for 2-year-olds. He returned to racing the following day, but decided to take off his mounts after riding six on Sunday's card.

"He knew it was bruised and he was feeling a little off, but after yesterday he decided he needed a break," said Craig O'Bryan, the jockey's agent, on Monday. "He had six mounts on Saturday, and then he rode six on Sunday again. He probably overdid it a little, but he's been resting and he'll definitely be back by Saturday."

Going into Monday's card, Stevens was 11th in the Saratoga standings with a record of 8-10-11 from 62 mounts.
