Cooking the Books, the first horse signed up for ReRun's new program "Running for ReRun" broke his maiden at Saratoga Race Course Aug. 21 in a New York-bred maiden special weight race after the winner was placed second due to interference in the stretch.

The 3-year-old gelding, owned by Sea Horse NJ Stables and trained by Barclay Tagg, had placed second in his last start at Saratoga in which he launched ReRun's new program in which owners can pledge a portion of race earnings to benefit ex-racehorses awaiting adoption. Horses and owners participating in Running for ReRun will be posted on ReRun's website and recognized periodically in major racing publications.

Sea Horse NJ Stables owner Felice Busto said, "Running for ReRun has not only brought good luck to my horse but has also helped ex-racehorses in ReRun's successful adoption program."

Cooking the Books is the first racehorse owned by Busto who also owns an ex-racehorse and serves as Re-Run's Vice-President. Busto added, "I'm a new owner with one racehorse and I'm hopeful other owners in the industry with more horses will support this new program."

Cooking the Books will continue to donate earnings to ReRun.
