DeVito Named President of NTRA Productions
Edited press releaseVeteran television executive Basil DeVito Jr., who served as senior vice president for television and sponsorship for the National Thoroughbred Racing Association from 1998-99, has rejoined the organization as president of NTRA Productions.NTRA Commissioner D.G. Van Clief Jr., made the announcement Aug. 24. DeVito, who brings almost three decades of sports and entertainment experience to the position, has been president of IX Television and Entertainment since 2002.DeVito has continued to work with the NTRA, however, as a consultant. He has been the NTRA's liaison with its television partners, including ABC/ESPN and NBC. He was instrumental in developing the eight-year agreement under which ESPN will telecast the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships beginning in 2006.DeVito also played a key role representing World Wrestling Entertainment in its new multimillion-dollar, multi-year deal that returned WWE programming to the USA Network.DeVito will succeed Jim Wilburn as president of NTRA Productions. Wilburn, president and chief executive officer of the Tulsa, Okla.-based television production and multimedia services company, Winnercomm Inc., will continue to play a key role in the NTRA/ESPN relationship, according to a release.
