Pleasant Breeze Hoping to Follow in Behrens' Footsteps in Gulfstream 'Cap

Entrants for Saturday's Gulfstream Park Handicap (gr. I) won't have to worry about the now retired Behrens, the winner of the last two renewals of the 1 1/4-mile event, but they will likely have to face his former stablemate, Pleasant Breeze, who was assigned 115 pounds for the race.Pleasant Breeze last win came in the 1 1/4-mile Saratoga Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II) in August, after which he was vanned off the track. X-rays taken showed nothing broken, but the then 5-year-old was given time off to recuperate.The son of Pleasant Tap returned to the races at Gulfstream Park in January, finishing third in the Skip Away Handicap (gr. III). When next out, he finished a well-beaten fourth in the Donn Handicap (gr. I).Eight-year-old Sir Bear, third to Behrens in the 1999 renewal of the race, was assigned highweight of 116 pounds by David Bailey, the track's director of racing.In all, 17 horses were weighted with Ciro and Gander both assigned 115 pounds.
