'Friends' Schedules Spa Town Hall Meeting

Friends of New York Racing will hold a town hall meeting Aug. 22 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Fasig-Tipton sale pavilion at East and Madison avenues near Saratoga racetrack. FNYR officials will discuss initial findings and recommendations on the future of horse racing in New York.
Participants will include Thoroughbred owner Jack Knowlton, New York Thoroughbred Breeders executive director Dennis Brida, New York Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association president Richard Bomze, and New York Racing Association chief executive officer Charles Hayward.
Local citizens and officials, concerned owners, trainers, jockeys, members of the backstretch community, and the media are welcome.
