Gate Malfunction Cancels Ellis Park Race

Stewards at Ellis Park declared the fifth race on Sunday's program a "no contest" due to a starting gate malfunction. All wagers on the race were refunded.

Pick 3 wagers affected by the no contest included those starting with races 3, 4, and 5. Pick 3 wagers starting with the third race will pay the winner of the third race (No. 2 Nestle is Quick), the winner of the fourth race (No. 1 Onthedeanslist) and all horses in the fifth race.

Pick 3 wagers starting with the fourth race will pay the winner of the fourth race (No. 1 Onthedeanslist), all horses in the fifth race, and the winner of the sixth race (No. 9 For Always).

Pick 3 wagers starting with the fifth race were refunded.

Pick 4 and Pick 6 wagers were not affected.

Officials said the backup starting gate will be used for the remainder of the card.
