Bailey Back in the Saddle After Monday Incident
Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Bailey will return to the saddle Wednesday after recovering from an incident in the post-parade of the fourth race at Saratoga Race Course that caused him to miss his final two mounts on Monday.Bailey was injured when the Bill Mott-trained filly Performing Diva tossed her head and hit him in the nose. Although he received a few sutures after the incident, X-rays taken on Tuesday morning revealed no serious damage and Bailey's agent Ron Anderson reports that the rider is feeling fine."You know, through all the years of being dinged up in this sport, he knows what to do," Anderson said. "He's been icing it quite a lot and the swelling has gone down significantly. He was lucky that nothing worse happened."Bailey is scheduled to ride in five races on Wednesday and four on Thursday. Four of those nine mounts are trained by Hall of Famer Bill Mott.
