Fusaichi Pegasus to Resume Training

Now that the dust has settled from the spirited bidding for the rights to stand him at stud, Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Fusaichi Pegasus is scheduled to resume serious training again next week as he embarks on a campaign leading up to the Breeders' Cup Classic. (gr. I). As was widely reported, Coolmore's Ashford Stud won the stallion bidding war for a figure believed to be as high as $70-million.

The son of deceased leading sire Mr. Prospector will continue to race this year for Fusao Sekiguchi, who outbid the Coolmore interests and other buyers to acquire Fusaichi Pegasus for $4-million at the Keeneland July selected yearling sale. The colt will remain with trainer Neil Drysdale at Hollywood Park in southern California.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Drysdale plans to start Fusaichi Pegasus once or twice before the Breeders' Cup.
